Hitting The MovieDB API with Methods

In this series, we dive into VueJS. I teach you all about the basics of Vue app development where we dive into VueJS fundamentals, VueJS Animations, API calls, Vue Router and much more!

Vue (pronounced /vjuː/, like view) is a progressive framework for building user interfaces. Unlike other monolithic frameworks, Vue is designed from the ground up to be incrementally adoptable. The core library is focused on the view layer only, and is easy to pick up and integrate with other libraries or existing projects. On the other hand, Vue is also perfectly capable of powering sophisticated Single-Page Applications when used in combination with modern tooling and supporting libraries.

@Chris Hey Chris, You could pass the API key in the header of the request to make it a bit more secure. However, most of the modern production API's I've seen don't require the API key to be sent, they utilize JSON Web tokens instead which have an expiry date and allow you to trace the request's origin (since you can add the user's information to these) and are also sent in the header of the request.

Hey Scott! Great course so far...it's saving my bacon as I took a job with a small agency thinking I'd end up doing Java and React and ending up on projects using Java Velocity Templating and Vue (with no view experience!).

One question...while sticking the API key directly in the URL might be Ok running the app locally, what would you do in a real world situation, where security is a huge concern?

Thanks!

The Movie Database

Just a note that the movie database requires an app set up, including a url for the app. I used localhost and it worked.
